On May 13, 2021, ADH Member, Les Alderman, filed suit on behalf of Brandon Pope, against Colorado Representative Doug Lamborn (5
th District) for retaliatory termination. Lamborn and his office refused to implement health protocols, like requiring masks, allowing social distancing and permitting telework, particularly in his Colorado Springs District Office. Brandon had the courage to stand up to those reckless practices, and the Congressman and his Chief of Staff fired him for it. The termination violated the Congressional Accountability Act, which protects employees like Brandon from retaliation when they raise workplace safety complaints like this. The suit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, Civil Action No. 21-1321.
