Erling Hansen

Erling Hansen, of counsel to the Firm, is a skilled healthcare lawyer with over 30 years of legislative, regulatory and transactional experience.  

Mr. Hansen began his health law career working for the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program of the then U.S. Civil Service Commission. He then served 17 years as General Counsel for the national managed healthcare trade association (now America's Health Insurance Plans) and was named one of “The Leading Lawyers of Managed Care” by The National Law Journal. He also served two years as Director of Legal and Regulatory Affairs of the George Washington University Health Plan.

Mr. Hansen currently counsels healthcare providers, managed care companies, healthcare consultants and nonprofit associations on a broad range of legal issues such as Medicare reimbursement (including disproportionate share hospital payments), Medicaid managed care compliance, Social Security disability requirements and employee welfare benefit plan matters.

Mr. Hansen received his undergraduate degree from Hamilton College (Clinton, NY) and his Juris Doctor degree from Syracuse University College of Law.
